This article will assist you with setting up SMB File Share on your Android Tablet Device. In the first part of the article we will cover installation and connection, and the second part will cover uploading.
Step 1: First, visit the Google Play Store and search for AndSMB to install the app
Step 2: Once the app has been installed, open it up and tap the plus symbol at the top of the screen to create a new connection
Step 3: Enter the information for the host name IP address, username and password as provided by Simplifying IT.
Step 4: You may tap browse on both local directory and remote directory to set the default directories. Information may have been supplied by Simplifying IT for this.
Step 5: Once you have finished entering the connection information, tap save and then ok.
Step 6: Your connection will be in the centre of the app. Tap it to open the SMB File Share drive.
Uploading files to your Drive
Step 1: To upload a file to your SMB File Share drive, tap the phone icon at the top of the screen when connected to your drive
Step 2: Navigate to the file you wish to upload from your mobile phone (default directory for photos taken by your camera is DCIM > Camera). Once you have found the file you wish to upload, tap the upload icon at the top of the screen as below.
Step 3: Tap ok to confirm the upload, once the file has finished uploading tap ok and you should see it on any device that has access to the SMB File Share
