Setup an IMAP email account in Outlook 2010-2016

Step 1 - Click on the the File Menu and choose Info and then select Account Settings twice.

Step 2 – Click on “New”.

Step 3 – Select Email Account and press “Next”.

Step 4 – Select “Manually configure server settings” and press “Next”.

Step 5 – Select “Internet E-Mail” and press “Next”.

Step 6 – Enter your email details as below:

Your Name: Your name
Email Address: Your email address
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming Mail Server: mail.simplifyingit.com.au
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.simplifyingit.com.au
Username: your.username
Password: Your password

Then press the “More Settings” button in the bottom right corner.

Step 7 – Select the “Outgoing Server” tab at the top and check the “My Outgoing server SMTP required authentication” and ensure the radio selection for “Use same settings” is selected.

Step 8 – Select the “Advanced” tab at the top. Ensure Incoming Server is set to 143. Change the Outgoing server SMTP to port 366 as below. Click OK at the bottom.

Step 9 – Press the next button at bottom right, and Outlook will run a test. If settings are correct, the test will succeed. Press Close.

Step 10 – Email successfully setup, press Finish to finish.
