Disable Firefox plugins and extensions

Firefox plugins can cause a computer or server to run very slowly due to being very ‘resource hungry’ and using a lot of RAM. This will occur particularly on a server when you have a number of users all with Firefox open a the same time.

It is possible to turn off the plugins and extensions to make the server or computer run smoothly again and the process is as follows. Please note that your plugins and extensions may be different:

Step 1: Firstly open Firefox and click on the orange Firefox drop down menu in the top left corner of the window and then click on ‘Add-ons’:

Step 2: The following window will appear – then click on ‘Plugins’ and on the right hand side of the screen click on the button ‘Disable’ for every plugin – unless it is of a critical nature such as the AUSkey for the ATO portal.
